Greater Seattle DHS members were once again active at WSDHA’s annual legislative Lobby Day in Olympia.

At our February 9 general meeting, our C.E. speakers informed us about the benefits of probiotics, and how they relate to oral health. It was very interesting.

At the March 9 meeting, we will have speaker Debbie Goetz help us be better prepared for emergencies. Given the number of earthquakes occurring, this is a very timely topic.

At the GSDHS general meeting planned for April 13, dental hygienist and independent practioner Doreen Naughton will guide us to better local anesthesia techniques.

For the May 11 meeting of Greater Seattle DHS, we will welcoming students from local dental hygiene programs for a round table discussion and pizza.

GSDHS members will once again be manning a bean bag toss booth at the soccer fields at Fort Lewis on June 5 for the Special Olympics. Please contact me if you would like to join us for this fun, easy, community service project.

We all hope to connect with friends and classmates at the WSDHA Oral Health Symposium taking place April 23, and 24, in Lynnwood. We’ll see you there!

Our general meetings take place at the Good Shepherd Community Center, room 202, 4649 Sunnyside Ave N, Seattle. As in the past, we will be meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings take place from 7-9pm, and offer 2 credits of continuing education. The executive board of GSDHS meets immediately prior to the general meeting at 6:30 pm.
