Some of us know Lieutenant Paramedic Garrett Smith from his popular CPR/First Aid/AED (automated external defibrillator) course at Pierce College. He has been teaching for 10 years and is well acquainted with the complications most often encountered in a dental setting. In Garrett's 23 years of experience in the fire department, he has seen it all, and he is willing to share his experience with us. In his unique, interactive CPR/First Aid/AED course, Garrett focuses on good emergency response, staying calm, and buying time for the victim. Recognition of and appropriate response to stroke, diabetic episode, and heart attack will be emphasized as well as recent changes in American Heart Association guidelines issued in July 2006. Garrett presents practical information with humor in a fun atmosphere.
